When and how to use PC Lifecycle 2010
PC Lifecycle 2010 is the perfect companion for your PC - for the whole of its life. Just as your PC is at your side almost every day of your life your PC now has a friend at its side as well! With PC Lifecycle 2010, you have the ideal package to accompany you through all the phases of your PC’s life: starting from installation up to the final secure deletion of all your data.
Maybe you’re thinking about buying a new PC, or have just gotten one? Can you still remember what it was like setting up your old PC for the very first time? How once the joy of having new and naturally faster technology gradually turned into frustration and you had to face tricky issues such as: How can I transfer programs, files, and settings to recreate the functionality and character of my old computer? How can I synchronize the new computer with my other PCs? How can my computer maintain its original speed? And how can I delete the data from my old computer before I sell, give, or throw it away? The answer to all these questions used to cost a lot of time and energy, and require no small amount of technical know-how. Not anymore! With PC Lifecycle 2010, you have the ideal package to accompany you through all the phases of your PC’s life.
A direct upgrade from Windows XP to Windows 7 is impossible. Wrong! PC Lifecycle makes it possible!
Microsoft will not be offering any technical possibility to upgrade from a Windows XP installation to Windows 7. What there will be is only a licensing option, meaning that a Windows XP user is entitled to upgrade to Windows 7. He or she, however, will not be able to transfer settings, applications, or data. This must be done by hand, and possible licensing problems arise: if a customer wants to replace Windows XP with Windows 7, everything has to be newly setup and installed. A so-called Dual-Boot solution, namely a parallel installation of Windows XP and Windows 7, is not allowed with a Windows 7 update license.
PC Lifecycle 2010 allows for a direct migration from Windows XP to Windows 7
PCmover, part of PC Lifecycle, is the only product capable of transferring all your installed programs* from Windows XP (including license information), data and all settings to Windows, either within one computer or from machine to machine.
After migration to Windows 7 you’ll immediately feel at home. All programs* installed under Windows XP are now available under Windows 7. All individual settings are as they were, and all files are available. Simply carry on playing or working as you did before, enjoying the benefits of the new Windows 7.
Want to sell your old computer? Do you want the new owner to be able to read your e-mails?
Deleting is more complicated than it sounds. Moving a file to the recycle bin and emptying said bin does not really remove it from the hard disk. The directory entry is removed, but the data themselves remain on the hard disk and can therefore be restored. Even formatting partitions and low-level formatting at the BIOS level does not represent as data can still be restored, even if the effort required is then greater. With O&O SafeErase, you can securely delete individual folders as well as entire computers, using recognized and recommended methods. Some of these techniques are employed by the U. S. Department of Defense (DoD) and the German Department for Security in Information Technology (BSI). With O&O SafeErase, you can be sure that the next owner of your old computer will never have a chance of invading your privacy. After the move – protect your data with O&O DiskImage According to a Google study, defects in some new hard disks are similar to those found in ones over 5 years old. A technical disk defect generally leads to a catastrophic loss of your confidential data from the disk. PC Lifecycle prevents this with O&O DiskImage. This product takes an image of your system, so that you always have a safety copy. Should disaster strike, you can simply rewind to where you were before, operating system and all.
Automatic synchronization of important files and folders with PCsync
If you have more than one PC, chances are at some point you will want to transfer or synchronize files between them. It gives users of multiple computers a secure way to access files and synchronize folders instantly and effortlessly.

Even new computers start to slow down almost right away. Not if you use O&O Defrag.
Fragmentation can drastically slow your computer down. When saved by the operating system, files are broken into fragments and dispersed across the entire hard disk. Increased fragmentation ends up having an extremely negative effect on your access times. O&O Defrag is the perfect remedy. A defragmentation rearranges the individual data fragments and writes them contiguously on the hard disk. This is really the only way for your computer to regain its original power and performance. O&O Defrag does this in the background, and all your system‘s files will be sorted by O&O Defrag 12 according to their level of use, and each one separated into its own section of the hard disk.
Protects your PC against viruses and other internet threats
Included in PC Lifecycle 2010 is the Panda Internet Security 2010 which will protect your PC against all types of internet threats, viruses, spyware, hackers, online fraud and spam for 12 months. The child-safety option Parental Control also protects your children when they are surfing the web.
Keeps your PC's programs constantly up-to date
The 1-year license for the UpdateStar Premium Edition means you keep all your programs up-to-date with barely any effort required. This also stops internet criminals using the security gaps often left by out-of-date software.
