Registry Tweaker 2.1.2.283registrytweaker.net - 1,3MB - Freeware -

Registry Tweaker is a tool for applying Registry tweaks on Windows platforms. It supports Windows 2000/XP/2003. The program is highly customizable: you can add to and edit the tweak database, and create tweak profiles and export them to *.reg files. Everything is done just with a few clicks.
Registry Tweaker supports the following basic data types:
• REG_DWORD, REG_SZ, REG_MULTI_SZ, REG_EXP_SZ, REG_BINARY
If you like to track things down, Tweak Tracker is included. When you apply a tweak, manually or with a profile, changes are written to Tweak Tracker so that you can check everything that you have applied. Of course, restoration to old or original values is always possible.
The next great thing is database update via the Internet. Two methods of update are possible: overwrite or append database file, and so you can never lose your custom tweaks. Listed under the Other Tweaks section are Windows XP Viewer/Changer and Startup Manager. You can also apply *.reg files to run at Windows startup.
Another neat feature is Registry Backup. What it does is really simple: it exports the whole Registry to a *.reg file, which can be applied later if something goes wrong. With the latest release of Registry Tweaker, the Backup tool got some improvements: you can now export hives or a custom registry path.
The System Information section is useful for administrators; it captures basic information about your computer. The latest version of Registry Tweaker also has an improved database editor. Jumping between tweaks in the database and from many directions is really easy. If you like typing the database, then you will like the Database Syntax checker; or if you like to do it more quickly, than you can use tweak templates. There are also the Hex-to-String Converter and Find/Replace Tool. Another new feature is Internet Explorer Security, whereby you can block Internet domains and cookies from those domains. The latest version of Registry Tweaker also supports ActiveX blocker. With this addition, IE Security gets closer to being an alternative to other virus-immunization tools, like Spyware Blaster or SpyBot.
Registry Tweaker also has a nice Directory structure wherein are stored all the files it uses. You can also do mass delete from the Registry. Because it doesn't need any other system file, you can simply copy the program to a portable device and carry it around with you. The latest version of Registry Tweaker includes a *.reg file syntax checker, which is a valuable tool for fixing broken reg files.
The main difference of Registry Tweaker from other tweaker-type programs is how the tweaks are represented to the user. Every tweak is shown transparently, which means that the user can see which key and value will be modified before a tweak is actually applied. The program reads data from databases, which are also in plain text, so that you can modify them in Notepad, for example. With the latest version of Registry Tweaker, you can associate *.rtd files with Notepad.
The program uses three different tweak databases: for Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows 2003. These databases are the first step when you want to apply a specific tweak. You can change the content of the database files (at your own risk, of course). Advanced users will know how to deal with the database! It's a plain-text .ini file with sections that represents tweak titles, and subsections with data about specific tweaks. Yes, you can add your own tweaks!
