How the Safety Score Is Calculated
Every listing with scan history carries a 0–100 safety score. Here’s a plain-language look at what goes into that number.
The score is built from the combined results of dozens of independent antivirus and threat-intelligence engines – not a simple count of how many flagged a file. Results are weighted for how reliable each engine has proven to be and how strongly its findings are corroborated by others, then combined into a single 0–100 signal.

Not every engine is weighted equallyEngines with a strong track record for accuracy count for more than ones known to be noisy or unreliable.

Context over alarmA confirmed, clearly identified threat counts more heavily than a vague or low-confidence warning. Minor, subjective flags like bundled offers count for very little – we’d rather give honest, level-headed guidance than inflate the score of a scary-sounding but harmless flag.

Agreement mattersA single, uncorroborated flag is treated as weak evidence. Confidence builds gradually as more independent engines agree.

Not enough data means no score at allIf too few engines have actually assessed a file, we show no score rather than a misleadingly confident one.
Example
A clean result across the vast majority of scanning engines typically lands in the low-to-mid 90s and is marked Safe. A handful of low-confidence flags won’t pull a genuinely clean file down much; a low score, in turn, means the evidence of a real problem is strong – not that one obscure engine had a bad day.

Confirmed issues lead to immediate removal or correction of the affected listing. We continuously adjust our review process based on what we learn.

Automated trust-score tools score sites on general signals like domain age and scraped comments, not a manual review of content. With millions of downloads and user-submitted listings, isolated flags are hard to avoid entirely – we review every report we receive.
